SmartStor NS2300N重大缺失... /pluginapp/itunes/music千萬不能刪!

Promise的itune plugin寫的真的很糟糕...直接把問題分享出來好了
原本買了 NS2300N 就是想把所有的音樂跟照片通通集中在一個地方方便管理的，於是，我把過去累積了快十年的音樂檔案，不論是自己混的網上抓的CD轉的親朋好友那邊轉來的...通通丟到NS2300N上去...總共...350GB左右的檔案。

就在我檔案全部移轉到SmarStor上去之後，我發現，在itune的plugin下面突然很奇妙的出現了一個資料夾...裡面看起來好像是itunes server這個plugin把所有 \music下面的檔案又通通複製了一遍。奇怪，這做法很怪吧，應該是pointer的作法直接連到\music就好，幹嘛要把資料再通通複製一次...我點了幾個檔案看路徑，沒錯，的確路徑都是顯示是 \\NS2300N\pluginapp\itunes\music\1.mp3, 然後，我在\\NS2300N\Music\1.mp3 也有看到"另一份"檔案。看起來的確是像複製檔...

好，可以刪吧.... 但是不放心的我，還是乖乖的開了support ticket去問個清楚....

Hi, I have a question regarding the two plugins that came with SmartStor unit, specifically the DLNA and Itunes Server plugins. I noticed that after I enabled the plugins, the plugins seems to made COPIES of everything in my "music" and "photo" and "video" folder. I am going to disable the plugins now, but I just wanted to confirm that they are indeed COPIES of what is already in the music and photo and videos folders and not just mere file pointers? so what I am trying to get is, if I disable the plugins and have no intention of turning them back on, it is safe to delete all the folders that the plugins have copied over right? I won't lose my actual datas in the regular folders? just trying to make sure they aren't merely file pointers here... thanks!

Hi Tim,
As long as you see duplicated copies of your data, deleting the plug ins will only delete the data in that plug in. At this point, we always advise Promise customers to make sure there is a good data back up for safety reasons.

Hi, thank you so much for the feedback. My next question will then be... is there a way to configure plugins so they don't make duplicates and merely "points" to the current folders? seems kind of odd that it would need to make copies in order to function... thank you for the help again!

Hi Tim,
The Plug Ins are meant to be installed and utilized upon the creation of the ARRAY, not after you have created the different folders.

看到沒...我的問題應該很清楚吧，support回我的答案應該也很清楚吧.... 很好.... 接下來的慘劇就是，我把\\..\pluginapp\Itunes\music這個資料夾刪了..... 隨之而去的，就是我的 \\..\music!!!!!

e04....... Promise的support到底是再搞啥飛機，這奇怪的plugin behavior為啥都沒有documentation,還給我亂說答案... 超怒!真的火了!

貼上來公告一下，各位如果有用SmarStor的話，itune plugin下面那個music資料夾真的是pointer,千萬不要刪，你的\\..\\music會隨之而去的... >.<"
