CRISTIANO RONALDO tried to back-track yesterday after his shameful World Cup exit.
He spat towards a TV camera after Portugal's 1-0 defeat by Spain.
And when asked why his side had gone out, Ronaldo replied: "Ask Queiroz."
But yesterday he said: "When I said to ask the coach it was simply because Carlos Queiroz was at a Press conference and journalists could hear his explanations and I did not feel in the right condition to explain what happened.
"I never thought these simple and innocent words could cause so much controversy."
