If your built date was more than 9 month old. you may want to change oil sooner. personally, i wouldn't let oil stay in the car for more than 1 year. For example, when you got your car, and the built day was 9 month ago, i would change oil after 3 months.
If you ordered your car, you won't need to worry about built date. (usually it will be within 3 month) i would change oil at around 4000 KM. than change again at 10000km. and after that, change oil every 10000 km. ( i think change oil at 10000 is just about right, it is easy to remember and you don't need to worry about oil quality at all)
the first 2000km don't drive the car too hard. vary engine speed as much as possible.
from 2000 to 4000, you can drive it hard sometimes. i took it step by step. from 2000 to 3000, i hit 5500rpm. and from 3000 to 4000, i hit redline. change oil at around 4000km.
no matter what you do, an engine is not going to fail in 2 year warranty. however, when it get older, you may see the difference. (one most common is burn oil, many bmw engines will burn oil if you don't break-in properly.)
you don't need to use special expensive oil. Mobil 1 0-40 is pretty good oil and it doesn't cost much.
and it is BMW LongLife 01 certified.

although bmw usa said 335i can use regular longlife 01 oil. I would use M3 oil because the engine usually run much hotter than regular 3.0L engine.
335I owner can check their oil temperture while driving. In the US, many people reported the oil temp well over 100C. Many 5-30 or 5-40 oil has flash point of only 225-230C. I would guess the engine will burn quite a lot of oil (due to vaporized) using 5-30 or 5-40 oil.

this is an example you will see on the oil. there are some key element you may want to use when comparing with different oil.
1. cSt at 40C: this is the "sticky index" for room temperture start. If the number is higher, means the oil is more sticky. a sticky oil will make the engine more quiet. Some people will feel smoother running engine. however, sticky oil will use more gasoline.
2. cSt at 100C: this is the "sticky index" when the engine is running at working temperatures. When the number is higher, it is more sticky. engine will run more quiet. however, a more sticky oil will make the engine rav slower. So people say one particular oil can rave higher or easier, usually it's the oil with lower cSt at 100C
3. Flash point: the temperatures when the oil vaporize. usually, you don't need to worry about the number unless you are driving high performance engine car. check your oil tempurture while driving, if the oil temp is always at the limit of the oil, you may need another oil with higher Flash point. For example, a bmw M3 has working temp around 230-240C. as a result, M3 can not use any of the oil on this list. Same as 335i. i think 335i's working temp is around 225-230C, which is almost the limit of 5-40 oil using by regular BMW.
the more you know about oil, the less likely you will listen to marketing people and buy those super expensive no brand oil.
i am in no ways an expert in oil. i hope people can provide more information and we can all learn.
edit: i mixed up C and F. edit already. hope it make more sense.
ps. on the chat, the 5-20 actually has the highest flash point. It is a special case, usually 5-20 will have lower flash point than 5-30.
