Both M8 and M5 are not that impressive. The M8 is very late to the party; AMG is selling the GT4 63 for a while now.
Same with the M5. The E63 was killing it in the marketplace while BMW suffered delay after delay and then they came with a car which was, as an overall package, still inferior to the 1.5 years older E63.
BMW is simply not exciting, not interesting and behind others. With respect to AMG, BMW is behind by quite a bit, more than fanboys understand by just looking at their recent releases. Nothing goes smooth at M GmbH / BMW, nothing finishes on time, nothing is as nice as AMG, and at best, they are 0.1seconds faster. No serious customer with half a brain purchases them against AMG or Porsche.
