The factory L shape slider is really weak and does almost nothing. The previous owner of my bike lowsided once, and the factor slider broke into 2 pieces and couldn't protect the fairing at all, so my fairing also has crack on it.
I replaced the factory slider with rg-racing slider, it's much more solid and seems to work better. If you are planing to get a slider for the fairing, I would highly recommend this one:
