Why doesn't Toyota sell the V12 Century outside of Japan? The answer is simple, go read Toyota's book, it will tell you that they have thought about it, but they don't think anyone will buy a Toyota that expensive.
In fact, they have thought about it as early as late 1980's and early 1990's, at the time, Century already cost up to US$125,000 in Japan, but Benz and BMW doesn't even have a car that cost more than US$100,000. So if you are Toyota's senior management, do you think US or European buyers will pay that much money for a Toyota? Of course not. Lexus was born because Toyota wants to build a "mass luxury car brand" that is affordable for babyboomers who will move up from a Toyota car to a more prestigious brand of cars.
