1. OR to MD - will you be driving? This is a road-trip. You would want a comfortable and fun car for the memories. This will be a very important memory of your life~
2. What's the duration you will need to drive in the States? 1 yr or 2 yrs?
3. If you think you are only going to be driving for work, you will be mistaken. You are going to be doing a lot of driving for FUN~!
4. Cars are much cheaper to get in the States. If this is the first time you are learning how take care of a car, Japanese would be good. Audi's in the 30k range new. They have great services.
Toyota, Honda and Nissan's cars are all very different. They all have their one personalities. Honda's car rev high to give you great driving experiences at high speed. Toyota is an all-around well built car that give you a sense of peace when you are in one. Nissan is changing so much of their image lately to a FUN and FAST car. I would highly recommend the Altima or Maxima which you dont get to drive in Taiwan. They are really great cars too~
If you really want to be different, you can get Korean. They are CHEAP to buy, CHEAP to maintain and they got crazy warranties. You should have nothing to worry about.
And if you have the budget, then German cars are great~
Again, I dont know what kind of person you are, so I dont know what kind of car would fit you. However, 20k for a used Prius.... a bit too much and you might find a better deal somewhere else.

現在油電混合車... 電池壽命大約 4 ~ 5 年.... 更換電池需要一大筆費用
電池這種東西會跟使用多寡影響壽命.... 用越多儲電量會漸漸衰退
如果 mileage is pretty high that also means the battery life is not as good as new
you have to consider that you might have to repair or buy a new battery in couple years....
if is still under warranty Toyota will take care of you, but if is out of warranty you might have to spend a lot of money getting a new or rebuild battery,
省油程度來講..... 一台 Prius 買出門大約 28k... 當然這是看你配備...
如果只是為了省油錢.... 不如買台 Corolla LE 給你加配備 出門 20k 好了
美國現在給你加 91 大約 4 美金.1加侖
如果依照... 他寫的耗油量 26/34 取中間 1加侖跑 30 好了..... 給你一年跑 15k mile...
15000 / 30 = 500... 500 * 4 = 2000 美金...
開四年也才花 8000....
你一台油電混合車 開四年 電池也差不多了.... 講真的為了省油 你乾脆買台 Corolla 好了
因為油電車 2手車價真的很爛... 因為大家都知道電池貴松松
還有就是.... 美國 你開 local 多還是 Freeway... I'm sure you will be mostly drive around above 60 miles per hour on the free way...
now ask your self this are u really saving money on gas buying a hybird?
save your time running to gas station yes.... but saving money?? I have doubts on that
