因為BM之前沒有1.6小引擎 所以必須跟Chrysler 買Tritec engine

MINI introduced a new, second generation of the car for the 2007 model year, Mk II MINI (or R56), on a re-engineered platform with many stylistic and engineering changes. The engine architecture is shared with PSA Peugeot Citroën and is intended to be more cost effective. The engineering was done in the United Kingdom by BMW Group UK Engineering, in Munich, Germany at BMW Group HQ and with external third parties.
As for engines, the Tritec engine has been replaced in the Cooper model with a 120 bhp 1.6-litre Prince engine with BMW's Valvetronic infinitely variable valve timing, developed on and with Peugeot's core engine.The turbocharged engine is the same (although with some French engineering modifications) as the one in the Peugeot 207 GTi/RC.

Prince engine
Prince is the codename for a family of modern automobile straight-4 engines developed jointly by BMW and PSA Peugeot Citroën.It is a compact engine family of 1.4–1.6 L in displacement and includes most modern features including gasoline direct injection and variable valve timing.
For BMW, the engines replaces the BMW/Chrysler Tritec engine family in the MINI. PSA has started to use the Prince family in place of their TU family — the Peugeot 207 being the first car to receive it.
The engines’ components will be produced by PSA at their Douvrin, France, facility, with MINI engine construction at Hams Hall in Birmingham, England. The joint venture was announced on July 23, 2002 with the first engines produced in 2005. The Prince engine project is not related to the Prince Motor Company.
In late 2006, an extension of the cooperation between the two groups was announced [1], promising new four cylinder engines, without further details.

The 1.4 L PSA ET3 is the smallest member of the Prince family with a stroke measuring 75 mm (2.9 in) and total capacity of 1360 cc. Depending on application, power output varies from 90 PS to 95 PS while torque can range between 100–103 ft·lbf (136–140 N·m).

The 1.6 L engine is used in the second-generation MINI and various Peugeot 207 models. It has a 85.8 mm (3.4 in) stroke for a total of 1598 cc of displacement.

The naturally-aspirated variant (EP6) has conventional fuel injection and lost-foam cast heads. Its high 11:1 compression ratio creates an output of 120 PS (118 hp/88 kW) at 6000 rpm with a redline of 6500 rpm. Torque is 118 ft·lbf (160 N·m) at 4250 rpm.[2]

The turbocharged 1.6 L unit adds gasoline direct injection and has special low-pressure die-cast heads.
At this stage, there are two versions on offer - the THP150 and THP175, also known as the EP6DT and EP6DTS respectively within Peugeot.
For the THP150 maximum torque is 177 ft·lbf (240 N·m) at 1400 rpm, remaining flat to 5000 rpm. Power output is 150 PS (148 hp/110 kW) at 5500 rpm.

For the THP175 maximum torque is 178 ft·lbf (247 N·m) at 1600 rpm, remaining flat to 5000 rpm. Power output is 175 PS (173 hp/128 kW) at 5500 rpm. An overboost function is available which temporarily increases torque to 192 ft·lbf (260 N·m) between 1700 rpm and 4500 rpm.

2005 TDCi (PSA DW Based)Continuing the Ford/PSA diesel engine joint-venture, these straight-4 engines are again sold under the Duratorq TDCi name by Ford, and as the HDi by Citroën and Peugeot. An evolution of the existing DW10/DW12 engine, the new engines have a traditional belt-driven system, moving away from the chain-driven camshafts of the previous generation (Puma) TDCi engines. Both engines utilise common rail diesel technology and are the result of the fourth phase of the cooperation between PSA and Ford (initiated in 1998).
Both engines utilise all-new, third-generation common rail injection systems. The 2.0 engines utilising a system from Siemens and the 2.2 a system from Bosch. In both systems the injection pressure has been increased to 1800 bar. This higher injection pressure, associated with new piezo-electric injectors in which each nozzle is equipped with seven apertures (instead of five previously), allows the number of injections to be multiplied (potentially up to six per cycle) and ensures meticulous uniformity of the diesel injection spray pattern. As a result of this optimised air/diesel mix, combustion is more complete and more uniform, and therefore reduces emissions at source.

Based on the PSA DW10 engine and with a capacity of 1997cc, this engine was developed by Peugeot engineers in France on behalf of both PSA and Ford Motor Company. Production is currently taking place in France and Skövde in Sweden. The engine was released to Ford models in 2005 Ford Focus, and followed in the 2007 Mk IV Mondeo. It features a 16-valve cylinder head with twin belt driven camshafts and utilises a variable geometry turbocharger with overboost function. An intercooler is always present, as opposed to some applications of its predecessor.
In the 2005 Focus, output is a respectable 136 PS (134 hp/100 kW). In the 2007 Mondeo it is offered with 130 PS (128 hp/96 kW) or 140 PS (138 hp/103 kW), mated to a manual or 6-speed Durashift automatic gearbox
