After the nightmare debut year, things were a lot quieter in 2013.

Until now, that is, as Ford is issuing two new recalls for fire risks in some

2013 Ford Escape SUVs, after receiving new reports of engine fires.

Ford will notify owners by late January to take their vehicles to a dealer

where fixes will be made to the engine shielding, cooling and control systems.

The carmaker said owners don’t have to stop driving their vehicles or look for

alternative transportation ahead of the fixes. That’s because Ford has

introduced an improved control system to detect engine overheating and warn

the drivers.

福特將在一月下旬開始做問題修正，做法是將引擎，冷卻與控制系統作屏蔽隔開。

製造商表示，車主並不需要停止使用車輛，或尋求替代工具。因為福特已經提出改善控制系統

來偵測引擎過熱並警告駕駛人的方案。

On 2014 models, Ford has also added a new temperature sensor that is more

capable of detecting overheating in the engine cylinder. There are no reports

of such issues in the 2014 Escape.

在2014年車型，福特也將增加一新個感測器，將更能夠偵測到引擎汽缸過熱的問題，

2014年車型並沒有關於此類問題的相關報告。

第一項招回比較值得注意，氣缸過熱問題，這項問題已經造成13起火燒車意外。

第二項招回，則是預防燃油外洩，可能造成的火災問題，目前沒有案例。

針對第一項招回，後續動作是增加感測器因應。

針對第二項招回，則是增加屏蔽來改善，製造商也表示，此問題不須停止使用車輛。

現在的車廠真的 cost down太誇張了吧，引擎這種東西也不是啥新科技，更何況還是量產的車型！

裝個感應器就算問題解決了？

我也開福特歐系車,Mondeo 跟 Focus,雖然自己沒碰過漏油問題...
但看網路車友這麼多人出這狀況...對福特真的有點心寒...
福特在台灣的銷量與網路看到的瑕庛率來用QC手法的PPM來算應該老早就破表了...
有在汽車零件製造業工作的朋友應該看得懂我在說什麼...

問題應該不是出在cost down,個人覺得設計端的問題是否該檢討一下?
只是我們也只能打打嘴砲...連FLH都沒辦法要求母廠變更設計或是材質了...

2013年對於剛進入市場一年的Escape來說，卻如惡夢般無法平靜下來，
