1-It comes with Vista Business in English originally, inbuilt recovery system in English as well, the model is registered as an English set.
2-If you buy the SZ476 in Taiwan, you need to approach a dealer to help you convert the language from Trad Chinese to English, incurring a labour costs fee of $1500++NTD. And the inbuilt recovery partition in your hard disk will still reformat your system to Trad Chinese. You'll have to reformat your vaio again, after the reformat to Trad Chn, using the supplied recovery disc from the dealer. That means you have to reformat twice! (That is if I am not wrong).
The true Carbon Fibre lid cover is not that of the SZ476,483 series. You might want to do a search in Yahoo TW Auctions for SZ93HS, the Japanese model for Vaio SZ. You should be able to see a link containing pictures of both the Carbon Fibre lid cover and the normal Black colour for the Vaio SZ. *Unigo* Alternatively, you can also visit www.sony.co.jp to check out the images for their Vaio SZ.
I think the SZ that you saw in UK should be the real Carbon Fibre lid cover. Its shiny with many hairlines... :)
P.S. It might be better waiting for the new SZ6x series to be out.
