3.In what ways the disccontinuity presented in photographs differ from real life-experiences and from recollections of memories.

5.Explain:Discontinuity always produce ambiguity.

6.How a drawing differ from a photograph.

7.Are the appearences that the camera transports are cultural artefacts (man made) or are they like a foot print in the sand (a trace, naturally left by something that has past) ?

9.The camera does not lie, even when it is used to quote a lie, this makes the lie appear more truful.

10.Why an X RAY photograph can tell utter truth but a photograph about man's experience can not?

11.Why and how photographs give meaning to facts?

Key words forPhotographic Narrative:

Irrefutable evidence
Arresting the flow of time = Disscontinuity
Ambiguity
Mystery
Meaning
Captions
Interpretation
Inclusion - exclusion
Confirmation of the thereness of the world

Some notes by me:

Make a lie more believeable→very powerful !!
Working on what is not in a photograph than what is in.
Photograph is a start point, a triger.

1.Explain:How does the Abyss between the present of the event and the present of looking charge the photographic narrative?

The abyss is the lack of senses between the present of the event and the present of looking at the photo. At the present of the event, a normal person would experience the five senses a human being would perceive. These are Sight, Sound, Taste, Smell, Touch, or even the 6th sense, if one believes. When looking at a photograph, the senses were stripped from the viewer, hence the narrative aspects is necessary to fill in the gap/abyss.

2.Explain:The Marvel of photographs that they represent what is absent.

What is absent is the ability to freeze time. it's a snap shot of the reality, a snap shot of history.
Because we live in a 4D world (3D + time), photographs help us perceive the world in a way we normally would not be able to.

A photo represents a moment that will never happen again. That moment will only exist in that photo and will be absent from any other time.

Even if you try to re-create the same object and surrounding, the moment will never be the same.

Well, one is just recording what's happening and one is taking down what you observed of what happened.

Say there's a ball room. Scene of the event is the room filled with dancing people and the band and by-standers. What you observed might be as big as the whole hall or as small as some unique decorations, the shoes people wear, expressions of certain people, pianist's hand ......

LOL.

Painting is adding things that you want in the picture.

Photography is removing things that you don't want in the picture.
