買Sony NEX5的主要目的是轉接若干裝不上DSLR的鏡頭，當然也會接上其它鏡頭玩。說到鏡頭量多，攝影史上恐怕沒有其它廠牌勝過M42版；所謂M42鏡頭指的是用42mm螺紋安裝的鏡頭，最先是東德Carl Zeiss Jena為Contax S（1949）生產，接著很多廠家都跟進，譬如Meyer、Steiheil、Pentax等等，連俄國都加入生產。正因為量多，市場上的價格相對地低，所以一般認為M42鏡頭是玩轉接最經濟實惠的產品。當然，量多並不表示質高，很多M42鏡頭實在很差，所以這棟樓就做為NEX上玩M42鏡頭的專區。
傳統底片版有一棟蓋得轟轟烈烈的樓，比台北101高了好幾倍，但幾乎成了貼圖區，要找出某個M42鏡頭的資料有點像大海撈針。所以，在Sony版也蓋一楝M42樓，大家把手上的M42鏡頭拿出來、為它們拍張照片，再用M42鏡頭在NEX上拍些照片分享，但不要三天兩頭就加貼新拍的照片，因為貼多了別人就很難找到您的寶貝鏡頭、很快就淪落成貼圖區。

Asahi/Pentax M42鏡頭一覽

以下是Asahi/Pentax的M42鏡頭表，這是從好幾本書整理下來供各位參考用，個人相信準確度相當高。這些鏡頭大致上從1957年Asahiflex II機型起到1975停產止（見Asahiflex II：日本第一台快速回彈反光鏡SLR（1954）這篇文章的討論）。這張表依焦距從小到大排列，相同焦距鏡頭依光圈大小排列。每一個鏡頭以鏡頭標示開始，接著是焦距和光圈；如果該列有auto（鏡頭上不一定有），就表示該鏡頭有開放光圈對焦、收小光圈拍攝（俗稱自動光圈）的能力。最後方是最可能的生產年份。
