In Ken Rockwell's website he also tested with D3100/ D3 and D40; very clean image just like D3 when ISO setting is lower than 1600; Noise reduction became stronger when ISO3200 and above but still usable even ISO6400.
D7000 is expected to have the same or better performance (one step).
