D800 LCD色偏[4/20 日本第六次回信]

4/20 日本回信內容如下：

Dear Sir,

We are sorry. Our English might cause you a trouble.

> Does the color space of D800 LCD covers sRGB and how about the coverage?

--> Yes, it does. However, we can not provide you exact range of coverage.
You might find some idea in the instruction manual for Nikon Capture NX2.

> In addition, how about D700/D3s?

--> Yes, D700/ D3s also cover sRGB color space. However, D800/800E cover
slightly wider range.
> and did your engineers figure out in what conditions will make the LCD shows more yellow&green than real color?

--> No, fundamentally it should reproduce real color on the LCD panel.
However, of course, it depends on the subject.
If there is wide yellow or green area in the a frame you feel yellow strongly.

the D800/800E monitor has been developed to reproduce more faithful colors
defined by the sRGB standard color space.
Unfortunately, we can not provide you exact range of
D3s/D700 also aimed to reproduce faithful color but it is not exactly the same
as D800/800E.

Regarding the condition that might cause more yellowish color on the LCD panel,
our engineers think that this characteristic affects every images regardless of
the shooting condition. However, this particular phenomenon is easy to be noticed
when the subject has wide area of yellow or green color.

由於jenhoxen大對於他們的制式回應有點疑問，所以小弟昨天又發了兩個問題給他們。

1.是針對日本上封回信內容提到的D800 LCD比D700/D3s的偏黃，而D700/D3s的LCD又比實際偏藍，但沒有說到D800 LCD本身與實際色彩的比較。

2.是希望他們能更具體的說明，D800 LCD的準確是基於什麼標準?

4/18 日本第五次回信如下:
Dear Sir,

We are sorry. The explanation might not be good enough.

The answer for Question 1:
When you compare the color appeared on the D800/800E with D3s/D700 LCD panel,
the color on D800/800E looks more yellowish than D3s/D700.
However, the color on D800/800E is more like the real color.
In other words, The color appears on D3s/D700 is slightly more bluish than real color.

The answer for Question 2:
As we mentioned in the last mail, our designers designed D800/800E to reproduce
color on the LCD panel much closer to the real color defined by sRGB standard color space
than D3s/D700.
As the display color temperatures were slightly higher with the D3s/D700 monitor
compared with the one with D800/800E, monitor display appeared slightly bluish.

We hope that you can understand the explanation.

大概就是這樣，我後來有再回一封詢問D800 LCD是否有涵蓋100% sRGB，目前等待回覆。

Dear Sir,

We are sorry we kept you waiting for such a long time.

We had several discussions among related sections and the following is the summary.
We think that the followings are the subject to be explained.

-- The different color appearance on the LCD panel on the camera between
D800/800E and D700/D3s.
We tried to improve the color reproduction on the LCD panel for D800/800E.
We tried to reproduce white color more truly than D700/D3s so that the image on the
panel becomes more realistic. (referring to sRGB standard and color temperature)
This results in the image on the panel of D800/800E slightly more yellowish
compared with D700/D3s. The color appearance on the LCD panel of D3s/D700
is slightly bluish compared with real color.

The sections in charge of this kind of issue are now considering if there is a good
solution for users who feel this color appearance uncomfortable.

We will contact you as soon as their decision comes out.

所以應該也是有可能做出適當的修正就是了，但他們的確說明D800之前的機種都偏藍，反而是不正確的。
但真的很值得讚賞的是，他們客服都一直有把最新的情況回覆給我。

Our fundamental idea is that this yellowish color itself is not a problem.

The problem is the different appearance on the LCD monitor between
D800/800E and D700/D3s and there might be same reason.

We hope that it will not take too long to get some explanation for you.

昨天也有親自去跟國祥的電子影像部的工程師仔細討論過了，我後來開始相信D800的螢幕是能更趨近於眼睛看到的顏色了。
他也不否認，D800/D4的螢幕是大幅的提升，以往機種的螢幕全部都比不上這兩台準確，所以會造成使用者的感覺差很多。
我跟那位先生在室內室外拍攝了一些樣品，與眼睛比較過後，真的發現D800的LCD能把一些人眼一眼看去忽略掉的部份也完整的呈現出來，用他的筆電(應該蠻舊的)比較，整個電腦上面的照片根本不能看。

原本還是有一些疑惑的地方，但後來用一張P500的DM(整片是黃綠色的草地樹木的照片)測試，就大概沒什麼話說了。

但那位先生也有用色卡於他們辦公室內的色溫燈箱裡拍攝色卡給我比較，但因為無法讓我進辦公室，所以色卡拿到外面日光燈下看跟照片還是不一樣，檔案他說要刪除掉，所以也沒留。但有一個現象非常明顯，請知道的大大幫忙說明看看：



他在比色用的燈箱裡面拍出來的色卡照片，圖中用紅色圈起來的那三個顏色，在D800 LCD上幾乎變成同個顏色(比較像右邊的那種黃)，電腦螢幕可以明先分辨出此三種顏色，但顏色或許有偏。這個現象是正常的嗎？還是說這也可以說明LCD偏黃的現象？

這邊附上拍攝P500 DM的RAW檔，有機會取得這張DM的大大可以拿到日光燈底下比較看看，會發現D800 LCD真的把顏色表現得與肉眼看到的非常接近！這個畫面底下我覺得發色的確非常準，但就如同我之前說的，有時候會覺得偏黃綠特別明顯，有時候卻還好。

國祥內部有做以下驗證, 確實可證明 D800 LCD 所顯現的顏色是趨近於眼睛所看到的色澤, 並沒有偏綠的情形.

1. 拍攝原廠影像校正的色板工具, 比較眼睛所看到的, D800 LCD, computer monitor, 眼睛所看到的綠色色澤與D800 LCD 相近, 電腦螢幕色澤較淡
2. 拍攝綠色為主體的物體, 比較眼睛所看到的, D800 LCD, computer monitor, 眼睛所看到的綠色色澤與D800 LCD 相近, 電腦螢幕色澤較淡

電腦螢幕為 ASUS and Acer

如果可以, 請提供您的原始檔案供確認, 或至國修維修部, 我們可一同確認, 需將所有設定歸零後驗證會較準確, thanks.

感覺那位先生似乎誤會我的意思了，我並不是說綠色的顏色不對，他好像是針對綠色去比較
後來有回信請他進一步至戶外測試(我覺得差異比較大的時候是在戶外)，且告知並非綠色本身有問題，也把我之前覺得有問題的RAW檔一起給他，他說晚點測試完再跟我聯絡。

We have just checked the situation with relative sections how our local
representatives are receiving the same inquiry as yours.
Now we know that several photographers are pointing out the difference
between D800/800E and D700 in color appearance in LCD monitor.

We then check what kind of action will be or being taken for this issue
by manufacture side and are informed that they are collecting samples
for their investigation.
They also think that they may have to prepare certain explanation
why D800/800E has more yellowish color than D700.

Therefore we kindly ask you to wait for a while.
We will contact you as soon as we receive the result.

這樣代表Nikon自己也意識到D800與D700 LCD發色的不同，知道他們有在進行測試及採集樣品就安心多了。
即使最後結果是D800能有較好的表現，我也能得到一個正式的答案了。
雖然如果沒修正，還是得習慣黃綠色的LCD就是了

*經jerrydon大大 #149樓的建議，我對著此張照片的天空部分使用PS內的顏色取樣器工具，RGB皆為255，但該張圖片的天空在D800 LCD上看就是偏綠，請問這樣是否能說明D800 LCD偏綠的情況呢？

有鑑於很多人都跟我有一樣的LCD色偏困擾，但看黑麵大及吉姆林等人的測試，並無此現象。

所以這邊我提供一張差異很明顯的D800 raw檔，請有D800的大家幫忙測試看看是不是D800 LCD跟電腦螢幕偏很大？感謝。

作法：
先把檔案複製到記憶卡中，並把記憶卡插入D800中，接著用"CNX"打開該檔案，比較D800LCD及螢幕的差異。

小弟本身的情況：
用手機翻拍的，其實剛剛又看了一下，似乎沒有差這麼多，可能是螢幕調太暗，但的確是偏綠，所以就先移除照片，免得大家越比越困擾晚點去借相機來重拍一次。

另外這邊是jjww大分享D800與D700LCD比較的結果，應該會比我的照片更有說服力。
同時我也有麻煩他把該鈔票的raw檔寄給我，一樣是偏綠色，就跟jjww大拍出來一樣的綠色。

我的螢幕有沒有問題我也不清楚，我只知道我在用D700時，從來沒有覺得D700 LCD顏色與電腦螢幕有差異，但用D800的第一天，我就馬上感覺到了...
這樣說明大家應該會比較了解了

on the D800's LCD monitor.

However, we have to inform you that it is difficult for us to understand
the difference between the real color or the color that should be and the
one appears on the LCD without checking it.

We therefore kindly ask you to contact our representative in Taiwan
to have your camera checked.

We will report your case to our quality assurance section for their reference.

日本客服要我拿去國祥問，昨天下午也去過了，但他們什麼都不知道阿＝＝
測試也只拿了店裡面的展示D800給我比較，一樣是偏綠阿！
用他們的電腦螢幕看，顏色就是正常，先生就說那可能是D800的調性就是這樣...也沒進一步的檢測之類的，我還浪費了來回車錢去得到這個答案

現在希望日本那邊的有關部門可以再做個檢查看看...
