I am new at Dslr field and very into it recently. After doing all the research on line I am going to have Canon 5D but still not very sure what kinds of lens I should start with.
Here are my primary objects will shot,
1) kids / family picures (indoor and outdoor both) --> 70%
2) landscaping --> 20%
3) flowers / birds : close look...
I knew here will be the best place to have the advice !!!!
By the way .. I have budget around NT$100,000.00 for the lens.(for 1~2 lens) ...
If I won't able to get the good quality of pictures at this price range I will able to throw in 50,000.00 more...

Flower and close up could be covered by a Macro lense. Plenty of exellent choice on the market. Many friends of mine has EF 100mm F2.8 Macro. I heared that Sigma 150mm F2.8 Macro also has very outstanding optical quality.
Shooting birds, well, is gonna cost you. I suggest you start a separate thread with what kind of bird you're thinking of shooting. I'm sure a 400mm will be your minimum if you're thinking what I was thinking, and that is expensive.

既然常拍室內人物, 建議 24-70 F2.4L.
外拍可能不夠遠, 但是 24-105 F4L 光圈太小, 室內或陰天就很不夠了.
或者你也可以加買一支580EX.. 這樣搭配, 上面兩支都很好用.
拍花打鳥的話, 如果你要求的很高, 那就要另外買適合的鏡頭了.
It does look like that most of you highly recommend 24-70 mm f2.8 L . Since I will have big portion of my work focusing on my kids,he is 6 months now and grow fast, and family this one seems the first len that I should have.
If shooting birds / flowers require mature skill and cost a big buck I might defer this option.
How about landscaping( day and night)? Which one will be your first pick for now?
