Outline of the software
Canon RAW Codec 1.2 is a software plug-in that, when installed in Windows Vista/Windows XP SP2*, enables the import and display of RAW images (with the extension .CR2) taken with Canon cameras.
* Requires a WIC-compatible application (Windows Live Photo Gallery).

The models that support Canon RAW Codec 1.2 are as follows.

System Requirements
This software can be used with the 32-bit version of Windows Vista (it is not compatible with the 64-bit version) or Windows XP SP2.
Cautions/Limitations
1. If the Canon RAW Codec 1.2 and the RAW image processing function (RAW Image Task) of Zoom Browser EX are used together, the shooting data that has been edited by Canon RAW Codec may be initialized and return to the shot settings.
In order to prevent this phenomenon, Zoom Browser 6.0.1 (RAW Image Task 3.1) or higher should be used. Please download the latest version of the software from here (the updater can be downloaded separately).
2. The following functions do not work on Windows XP SP2 due to limitations of Windows Live Photo Gallery.
- Printing of RAW images
- Attaching RAW images to email
- Editing the image information of Tiff RAW
3. On Windows XP SP2, thumbnails of RAW images shot with the following models may not appear on the screen for importing images in Windows Live Photo Gallery. If this occurs, thumbnails will be displayed if the Canon WIA driver for Windows XP is installed.

OS 選 WINDOWS XP
Canon RAW Codec 已 更新為 1.3 版，下載 rc130upd_7l.exe 在xp下就可安裝，再按樓主的方法安裝，就可以看見40d的raw檔了。試試吧！
ps ：進入頁面有點慢，要耐心等候才會出現OS的選擇，40d個人試過是成功的，甚至450d按說明應該也可以。
