The following procedure has proved to be an effective workaround to the freeze issue discussed in this thread:
1. Start -> Control Panel - > System
2. Click on Device Manager
3. Click on “Biometric Devices”
4. Right-Click on “AuthenTec, Inc. AES1660”
5. Select “Properties”
5. Select “Power Management” tab
6. Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power”
If you've been experiencing the lockup/freeze issue, please perform the above procedure. This is not the final fix but has been found to be an effective workaround.
I'll post an update to this thread with any future updates.
