Sorry I don't know how to type Chinese with my brother's notebook.
I am in California now (I am here for Lunar New Year vacation only). I went to Costco for shopping today. I saw a Hp notebook for ony 1150 US dollar (1200 with tax about 40000 NT). Its spec(商品規格) is almost the same with my BenQ Joybook 7000-T13( I just bought it in January 2005 in PXhome 49999NT ) except it cotains 512mb ram but not 256mb. I know it will be cheaper in the US. But why is it so cheap? I already regreat that I bought BenQ so fast. If you have friends in the US. You may try it.
I'm studying in California. It's not surprising that computers in the US are cheaper than in Taiwan because of the fierce compitition in the computing world. Especially here everyone can customize his own model of computer on the manufacturer's online shop, despite the fact that the computer may be more expensive than a similar one at a retail store. Therefore, as you have found at Cosco, retail stores are trying to beat such a trend of online customizing by offering even much lower price to customers compared to what computer manufacturers have priced on their products. Another resaon is that there are so many online computer sellers that retail stores have no way but cut their prices.
