First of all, thank you your information because I have read and get support from this forum a lot.
I use tomtom and I faced similar situation that I can't load the map I downloaded.
Finally, I noticed that the program should have compatible map.
For example, I have TomTom 6.204 + Taiwan 652.20 map and I do think we use the same program.
If I want to load the europe map, I have to find the europe map in v660.
Having a right version map, it is too easy to load.
Just put the right map in your tomtom folder.

In this sheet, the program V6.204 which I used is same as v6.030 and v6.030 can load map which is in v650,652, 660, 675.
U can easily find and download the map from internet.
Taiwan map could be v652.
US and Canada map could be v675.
Australia map could be V650.
Europe map could be V660.
