IIRC this is the roadmap and relations between PDA and Microsft embedded OSe:
PPC2000 is based on WindowsCE 2.1
PPC2002 is based on WindowsCE 3.0
WM2003 is based on WindowsCE 4.2
WM2003se (Ozone) is based on WindowsCE 4.21
WM5.0 based on WindowsCE .NET (Only a few Compaq devices had it).
WM5.1 (Magneto) is based on WindowsCE 5
WM5.2 called WM6? (Crossbow) is based on WindowsCE 5
WM7? (Photon) will be based on WindowsCE 6

第一個想法就是跟 .Net Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5 一樣,

Windows Mobile 5 中文模擬器的 ROM PPC_CHT_GSM_VGA_VR.BIN 有 29803 KB
Windows Mobile 6 英文模擬器的 ROM PPC_USA_GSM_VGA_VR.BIN 有 98304 KB
WM5.1 和 WM5.2 怎麼檔案從 30MB 爆增到 100MB ??
