Touch Pro

"DON'T BOTHER"...
After few days of trying out the phone, I am determined to say it's a "crippled" product, even in an all-English environment. My reasons are listed below:
1. Terrible battery life with all versions of firmwares I've used: With all wireless capabilities on, the thing won't last a day. Even with 802.11 off and synchronization set to manual, there's no way to make last two days.
2. Poorly designed UI: I believe there will be someone yelling that's Android is all about, customizability. But come on, that doesn't mean the manufacturer should do nothing.
3. Ugly exterior: It seems most of us Taiwanese never learned to design beautiful products. The design of G1 makes me wonder whether You-Know-Who designed Diamond internally.
4. Lack of multi-touch and virtual keyboard: Rumors said G1 is multi-touch-capable, only deactivated for some patent issue. And a virtual keyboard is coming in the near future. That's probably the only reason I said "crippled" instead of "failed". Out of a slightest thread of morality, shouldn't we sell something unless solutions are in order? When customers buy something, shouldn't they get a fully functional device no matter how cheap the price is?
All in all, I see no obvious reason for an end-user to choose G1 over of any Symbian, Win mobile, or iPhone handsets. I feel pity for Google for picking a wrong start-up partner to promote Android, and sorry for You-Know-Who for developing what I think is a disgrace to all Google-branded products.
