Come Monday, Microsoft will need to apply some of its most sophisticated public relations and marketing maneuvers.
The software maker is expected to unveil cell phones that have been talked about and displayed on the Internet for months as the “Pink” products. They’re basically the successors to the Danger devices that Microsoft acquired in early 2008.
As such, the “feature” phones are pitched as a rung down from true smartphones and the sort of thing a youngster or fashonista might want to carry. Engadget has been more than happy to disgorge photos of the Pink devices well ahead of Microsoft’s actual unveiling.
The tricky thing about these phones is that they run counter to Microsoft’s larger phone strategy.
