Upgrade Hydra-Z with simply playing a special firmware update ".wav" file. Hydra-z will detect and load it automatically. It is very handy feature.
When Hydra-Z start firmware update, the PCM/DSD LED will start flashing alternatively. Once upgrade complete, both LEDs will be on. And just reboot the Hydra-Z, the upgrade would be completed.
So make sure that you have a bit perfect player and do NOT interrupt it once the upgrade is started.
I found this version 1.01 improve the sonic performance.

其實 Audiobyte 的工程師曾經是 MSB Technology 和 PS Audio 的員工，MSB 的 DAC 也是利用 WAV 檔案更新 firmware 的，故此 Hydra Z 的 firmware 也有異曲同功之妙。

建議找一台專用電腦來當音樂播放主機，我買了intel的迷你電腦NUC D54250WYKH再用JRiver Media Center不接螢幕用iPad+JRemote控制，透過DDC入Hugo結果音質超乎想像的好，是我所用過的電腦播放最好的一個組合。電源可用DC-116 +19V或+12V。

若覺得那非常微弱的散熱風扇聲音相當惱人的話還可以將原本的機殼換掉，換成寂靜無聲的無風扇機殼，美觀又好聲。台灣也有廠商出NUC專用的無風扇機殼，不過沒那麼好看就是了。

似乎像您所說的，是軟體buffer太小，不過itunes v12沒有調整buffer的選項了..
換好一點的USB CABLE或上個DDC不知道可不可以解決這問題
