喔! WiMAX和3.5G以廣義來講是不會有誰被打掛的,因為原則上區分為:
固網通訊(有線轉無線)--->有線MODEM--->WIFI--->進化成WiMAX
行動通訊(手持式無線)--->2G(GSM)--->2.5G(GPRS)--->3G--->進化成3.5G
所以,在兩種不同領域各有所長,會有部份因為最後都是"無線收發"了而讓人誤以為互可取代,但是取代性有限。
行動通訊的WiMAX這塊台灣似乎還沒那麼快吧! 固網通訊這塊的WiMAX就等Wintel規格配上新版的Vista OS軟硬體的下一代64位元NB倒是未來取代WIFI的驅勢。
而"中間重覆、互為取代"的那部份呢? 也就是"3.5G無線AP"可以吃的市場,而這樣的小台裝置隨時攜帶,在有WIFI或是WiMAX的地方就用NB內建的無線連網,若沒WIFI、WiMAX訊號的地方就可以利用3.5G的收訊來連線。
時間點、收費金額都是重要條件,因為若是3.5G無法像目前3G這樣基地台訊號良好的話,說再多沒訊號也沒用,或是收費金額太貴也沒可能會造成流行的。
不過,講未來的發展講多了,難免扯太遠,我還是認為若是3.5G手機 vs 3.5G網卡的話,買3.5G的手機還是比較划算,因為網卡的介面太多,除非是買USB 2.0的type,不然現在的NB有的是PCMCIA, 有的是PCMCIA EXPRESS,若價格還是很貴的話,很難讓人買得下手吧!
台灣手機動輒一支一、二萬元,即使PDA手機賣一萬多元也還是可以接受吧! 不然若是比照MOTO E770那支便宜好用可拿來當3G上網MODEN的模式,再過不久也會有許多平價的3.5G手機出來,買這種就好了,至少沒事還可以拿來打電話。
我的3G華為PCMCIA卡在昇級3.5G之後就又完全英雄無用武之地了,想到若還要再買張3.5G的網卡,還是等年底看到底是3.5G手機還是3.5G網卡哪種便宜再考慮買哪種了!!

從這個角度來看這樣是沒錯啦
但是從單純的無線上網需求來說
兩者的重疊市場其實不小
就像現今 3G 跟 WiFly 的競爭
原本大家不也是覺得這兩個東西各有市場
但是 GPRS => 3G 是降價且速度提昇
而 WiFly 的發展卻是免費變收費,速度還越來越差
再加上涵蓋率 3G 遠大於 WiFly
所以即使 WiFly 感覺上似乎較為便宜
但是手上有 3G 上網吃到飽的人
跟本就不會再多花錢去搞 WiFly
WiFly 的市場自然就被嚴重擠壓到了
HSDPA 跟 WiMAX 的發展很有可能循這個模式演進

有的家用 ip分享器,是可以插一片pcmica 卡的wlan卡變成無線AP
現在有廠商加強這個ip分享器,讓它支援3g 的pcmica 無線網卡
所以使用情形就是,如果你有一張 3g的pcmica 無線網路卡,平時可以拿去給NB用
如果想全家一起用 , 就將這個pcmica卡插到家用的ip分享器,就變成一個3G的AP了
至於什麼時候賣...我想快了吧:P
為什麼不單純做一個AP上面可以插一張3G SIM卡就可以使用呢?
我的看法是成本還有開發時間的問題
如果3G SIM插在AP上,這台AP就要有手機的無線模組
這要花時間寫這部份的Driver , 還要增加這台ip分享器的硬體成本
加上網通廠和手機本來就是有一些區隔,增加投入3G研究這方面的RD 什麼時候回本還不知道
所以最簡單的方法就是..使用PCMICA卡 ,反正對AP的程式人員來說,只是對PCMCIA寫一些驅動程式 .開發流程很開快的
當然也許也有其他廠商在做直接插 3G sim卡的 ap .. 這我就不知了

講到重點了,藍芽的速度問題,這也就是我強調的,如果用WIFI的話,就沒有這個問題了,譬如說我的HP 4700 PDA就可以支援WIFI的11M.的連線速度,藍芽則不行,勉強只能到7百多Kbps,(不是你說的115K),藍芽應付3G還可以,3.5G就不行嘍!
所以,我期望有無線AP(裝3.5G USIM卡)來把訊號轉換成WIFI給我的PDA或NB做無線上網用!此時,不會有藍芽速限的問題發生了!

以我的HP 4700 PDA來說:
WIFI 可以支援到11M
藍芽只能支援到7百多Kbps, 3G連線沒問題,然而,3.5G的連線就出問題了,根本不支援,
3.5G用在HP 4700,就無法發揮作用了,只能望洋興嘆。所以,用3.5G的無線AP來發送WIFI訊號給PDA或NB,才能解決此問題!不但問題可解決,也不用重新再花一筆大錢去購買3.5G的網卡或手機。
基本上,功能尚足夠,但是外帶出門,還是太大台了!不行啦!

想用3G 3.5G的AP 變成AP目的就是要把無線頻寬能分享出去
但這能適用在多少地方呢?
我只有想到 所在的地方是電話線到不了的地方但有電源的地方 這應用才有價值
(AP一定很耗電 要運算分享出去的無線頻寬 頻寬分配及管理若插在筆電只會更耗電
變成沒有移動價值)
把它擺在家裡 辦公室都不對呀! 這些地方已有一般802 .11abg的訊號
那該擺在那裡 車上吧! 順便解決電源的問題 電話線也不能帶著跑
或者一些戶外大型空地 有辦活動有發電機 需要有無線網路
出外遊玩 臨時大家都想連上網可以分享頻寬 但這僅止在一定範圍
本來3g 3.5g就是靠基地台 大大的延伸目前無線上網的距離限制
現在要把它轉成AP訊號 這樣變成是走回頭路 你必須離它一定的距離才能使用
目地是要分享頻寬 難道想走到那還帶著那台AP嗎?
最終還是要靠廠商努力 把3.5G 或者 WiMAX 無線模組內建在各種手持移動設備上
把距離透過綿密的基地台建設給延伸出去
