When Jobs got cancer, Apple stock drop more than 20%. I think it showed a lot how important he is to Apple.

I think Apple's developing approach is more like top-down. Usually the topper management team come up with an idea or concept. then the R&D try to develop the technology necessary to achieve that concept or idea.

It has an advantages because top level management team often are not technical people. They can think a product from end user's point of view.

We can see the result is that, every new products was introduced by Jobs himself. AND he shows people how to use it in front of general public. I think it is the only company that the CEO come up to demo every products in product introduction.

I bet many company's CEO doesn't even know how to use their own products!

Ps. as a side note, if you watched Job's keynote. you will noticed the presentation skill Jobs has compare to other CEOs. Those other CEOs are all top companies in the world, and their presentation skills just look bad compaired to Jobs.
