Acer 天價收購 Gateway

eMachine 是一個華人開的
賣給 Gateway 所拿到錢
老闆平均分給當時所有的員工
當時還掀起了不少話題.

實驗室有一台gateway電腦
當初和儀器一起從美國進來
不知道這樣一來有問題送acer可不可以?

之前Acer是想買歐洲的Packer Bell,但是聯想突然殺進來要搶購Packard Bell,因為Gateway對Packard Bell有優先購買權,所以Acer直接上一層去購買Gateway,直接控制Gateway跟Packard Bell,讓聯想想都不要想。 Acer前一陣子殺進加拿大的兩大連鎖店Bestbuy和Futureshop,好像賣得不錯,而這兩家都有賣Gateway的電腦(Bestbuy還有 eMachine,不過確實聽說eMachine的電腦不好),看來Acer在併購後要整合這幾個牌子也需要花不少精力在裡面。 Acer加油!
eMachine~以前WALMART都會看到咧,價位也不高常看到老墨,老美買特價的機器
共同採購, 所"省"到的利潤也是很可觀的,
但對鴻海, 好像就沒有多大好處 (因為都是在鴻海做的)

i think everyone is thinking about saving money and cutting cost. I think it's not the main reason for this buyout.

think another way. Acer is almost unknown in the US market. If Acer want to enter this market, they will need to spend LOTS LOTS of money and maybe not even effective. after all, HP and Dell are just so strong in the US market.

now, Acer bought Gateway. Acer can just use Gateway to enter US market. Gateway is well known in the IT industry in the US. If Acer/Gateway come up with good design and good products, it is soooo much easilier for Acer to gain US market.

I think most Taiwanese IT companies always thinking about cutting cost/cost down. cutting cost can only go so far... in the next decade, industry design is going to win market share, not cost. Look at Apple and Sony. both companies are known for expensive products, and both are gaining market share. Dell lost to HP because people don't want cheap ugly computer. People are willing to spend a little more for a striking design and looks.
看來ACER要步BENQ的後塵啦
老實說ACER的服務太爛啦,可以花大錢去併購,怎麼不好好做好國內的服務

兩家購併案情形差蠻多的

BENQ是小並大
ACER大並小, 強勢併弱勢~

ACER只是單純擴張市佔率(後續零件採購可能也會有優勢), 增強在美國通路實力
本身ACER就是知名品牌, 不像BENQ連品牌, 規模, 技術, 知名度都不如西門子
ACER則是在各方面都贏gateway不少, 全球知名度和市佔領先更多(gateway只在美國還行)

我到是覺得ACER短期內拿下捷威和派克貝爾雖然要花不少現金(雙方應該有部份是用股票交換)
但能夠獲得兩家在歐洲和美國都有相當市佔率和知名度的品牌
其實對ACER長期是佔率和後續零件採購成本都會有不少優勢
畢竟一台電腦(PC), 各牌主要差異仍是外型設計和售後服務
內部核心零件, 幾乎都是差不多的, 可以想見ACER的零件和代工議價能力會更強~~

以後派克貝爾和捷威的機子大概都是原有品牌的皮, 骨子裡卻都是ACER的機子

其實汽車業早有不少先例, 像福斯集團下的不同汽車品牌
主要零件(引擎/變速箱等)幾乎都是集團共用的, 只是外型和市場定位不同罷了!!~
