gosh, that's really terrible!!!
cable providers only want your $, no service, poor video, unstable sound. now even no copy!
so far, my Pio 745 has no any problem to record cable. probably I mainly record Buddhism shows, sometimes AXN/Disc/NatlGeo.
if you can't get SAP or MTS, complain to your cable provider and better ask a powerful legislative for help!
