您說的應該是Nikon 300/2 ED-IF這顆,光圈比現行的300/2.8還要大上足足一級,發表至今20幾年了無人能出其右。

Zemax, OSLO, CODE V, OpTailiX, LensView are all very good softwares. All of them have demo version that are free to use for a while. LensView is totally free.
The problems of optical design is not always optical. A lot of times, they are manufacturing and mechanical.
For example, large lenses elements can be very heavy. How to drive those glass? You need a large motor to do that. The rigidity of the housing becomes important too. In fact, everything becomes important and hard.

In the case of large lens manufactuering, the most critical challenges are annealing and figuring. Null lens test is the key of success.
