英特爾Classmate PC將登陸歐美市場
英特爾」表示，公司針對印度、印尼和巴西貧童設計，售價只要２５０美元的Ｃｌａｓｓｍａｔｅ筆記型電腦，將於今年下半年在歐、美市場上市。
為了提供開發中國家兒童低價的筆記型電腦，由微處理器大廠英特爾開發，並由其他個人電腦製造商產銷的Ｃｌａｓｓｍａｔｅ計畫已經進行了１８個月，英特爾表示將把這款電腦引進到歐美市場。英特爾預期，已開發國家的家庭將添購Ｃｌａｓｓｍａｔｅ，作為第２台電腦。不過銷往歐、美的版本因為使用軟體和效能較強的零件，生產成本最高將達到３５０美元，因此零售價可能更高。

NB代工業者則透露，宏碁一向採用經濟規模量下壓售價，宏碁8.9吋NB價格將比華碩第2代Eee PC還要犀利，雙方8.9吋產品線終端價差甚至可能高達50~100美元。
目前華碩易事業也獲知此一訊息，華碩提出不與宏碁作價格戰，以展現整體產品線的一貫作風。華碩預訂8.9吋NB的FOB價格約300~350美元，推估市場售價約400~500美元間，而宏碁FOB價格有意直接開出250~300美元的低檔價格，市場銷售價格推估僅約350~400美元。
事實上，華碩第2代Eee PC產品原訂6月才要推出，但惠普(HP)4月即將推出家用Mini-NB迷你產品，加上宏碁8.9吋NB亦準備5月上市，迫使華碩第2代Eee PC在4月將提前布局。在硬體規格部分，第2代Eee PC除面板加大至8.9吋，其餘硬體變動不大，而硬碟也確定小於20GB。
