小弟拜讀後並修改完成後
現在 7k60 的達啦、達啦聲已經幾乎沒有了
不過我想請教不知有沒有那位大大
試過AAM與APM的不同交差組合
其噪音和效能的搭配不知那一種是最好的......
如果APM改成最左邊以電力為考量 + AAM最左邊的靜音設定
=>是不是噪音會最小、電池續航力也最高啊？
但不知對效能的影響如何？
不知有沒有那位大大可以測測看

You are right. Some motherboard does not support all these functions, like my Quanta 3084 board, nothing else can be changed except the S.M.A.R.T function.
Since this tool is written for Hitachi hard drives, can i assume the AAM & APM functions were stored locally on the HD? If so, would it still be working if I take my 7k60 to another IBM laptop and change AAM or APM's setting, then bring back to my laptop ?

The support of AAM and APM are depend on the HDD itself, not the motherboard. Although many motherboard support S.M.A.R.T. operations, u could still change the setting by Feature Tool for single drive. The difference is that S.M.A.R.T. operations in BIOS of the motherboard would apply to all drives.
The settings were stored in the HDD certainly! Since the settings work via the firmware of HDD not the BIOS of motherboard. It should work well if u plug it into another system.

要補上我的7K60調整後的心得
我一開始是將這一項調到最左邊
也就是最省電的模式
但是,一件神奇的事發生了
本來我的Acer C111在用電池時是可以兩個小時以上的
在經過我的調整後,居然不到兩小時就沒電了
而且在用word2003打報告時,每隔一小段時間會有嚴重的遲頓感
一開始還在想是怎麼了
後來回到家中
在很安靜的環境下再度的打開電腦
恍然發現,原來在我的那樣調整下
7K60會每隔一小段時間,大約2mins左右吧
會自動將轉速降低,變的非常的安靜
但是,只要一有任何要存取的動作就會聽到硬碟轉速增加的聲音
就跟開機時聽到的差不多
聽起來一切都是非常的合理
不過呢,問題出現了
只要有任何的硬碟存取就會重新增加轉速回到工作狀態
雖然我沒有做任何開檔案或是寫入的動作
但是,windows或是防毒軟體之類的東西總是會間接性的存取硬碟阿
於是呢,整晚就聽到大約每隔2mins硬碟就降速
一降速後大概1min後,又重新加速,週而復始......
聽著硬碟轉速高高低低
我的心情也高高低低,好痛阿,這樣超傷硬碟的
所有的謎底都解開了
原來,我電池使用時間大減的原兇居然是傳說中的省電模式阿
