Thanks for sharing the info on the advantage of Hitachi 5K160. I'm thinking of buying a second HD for my IBM T42. Mainly for data backup, and also in case one day I might need it to replace my current 72K60 which is in service just over 2.5yrs. Since power consumption is lower and speed is almost the same as 72K100, there's no need to stick with 72K100. Hitachi 5K160 seems a better choice for me, C/P ratio is much higher per your explanation here. Will search for Hitachi specs and decide which one to buy.

現在換 hitachi 7k100 上線win2003 sp2, 效能真的快, 真是沒話說...
另一台 ibm x31 是2004年用 Hitachi 60G 7200rpm IDE(IBM指定5年代工合約2000~2005),用到現在還是嚇嚇叫,
上線win2008 server rc0 測試, 一句話.. 真是快速無比, vista 核心效能相當顯著...
竟然比家用濫PC(P4 2.0 /1G DDR/ WD-160G)- XP SP2 還快!
這顆Hitachi 60G 7200rpm 當初一上市就買 (全球第一顆), 買價 NT$12600,
呵呵~ 想想當初真是瘋了...
個人覺得, Hitachi 還是技術上比較優, 真是牛.....
