Well, you dun use ur "Recovery CD" to install your new hd, you will need to use a system cd to install ur hd. Such as Window XP professional or home cd that comes with your purchase of ur notebook. Recovery CD is for when you already have the operating system on the hd then you can use a recovery cd to recovery system data that's lost.

Make sure the boot sequence start with the CD drive instead of hard drive. Go into BIOS setup to view or change the boot sequence.
Hi, you can consult your owner's manual... i'm sure theres some key you have to press at the boot screen in order to boot from the CD. And yes, you have to use your recovery CD, it contains your Windows XP in it, it will restore your computer to the original factory settings, just the way you first turned it on after you bought it.

Good luck loh~~ if worse comes to worst then bring it back to the shop and ask for assistance...
OH NO........ there is only black screem now...... and the comp makes the sound BEEEEEEEE........ why it is that? omg...... plz help
First of all, are you able to get into the bios (by pressing something like Del or one of the F keys)? If you can, the first thing after you install the new harddrive is to see if the bios has detected or not, and if the drive size is correct.

then you set the boot sequence from one of the advanced options in the bios..

if that is done, then you should have no problems booting from your recovery CD...
