應該是因為AT&T鎖網路的關係吧,我也是用AT&T的T616,除了ATT的卡之外,在沒有解鎖之前其他的卡都不吃,去找人幫你解鎖吧
how can i find somebody to unlock the code for me??? i am living in San Francisco, if you or anyone have any idea ...pls pls pls tell me!!!!
All network operators in HK are using GSM 900/1800. So the T616 can only work with GSM 1800 networks.

(1) I use AT&T T616. When I went back to Taiwan several wks ago, and I was about to use "international roaming". The diff between T610 and T616 is that :

frequency :
T616 : 850/1800/1900
T610 : 900/1800/1900

In Taiwan (I am sure HK as well) you can roam thru the 1800 band. But again, this may be limited because you lost the 900 band that is also available in Asia. (Not sure how to convert 850 to 900 w/o changing the phone :-)

(2) To unlock, I used to go to this web site and post question and I got the info. I live in San Jose area, someone around the area posted a store (the store was relocated, and the guy was kind enough to find out their web site and phone number thru yellow pages :-)

mobile kangaroo (in Mountain View).

You can try ask in :

www.howardforum.com (English only)

they have many users in the US/Canada area.

Or flip thru the local Chinese Newspapers in the Bay Area, e.g. World Journal and Sing-Tao Daily (you can get them almost anywhere in the area :-). I remember there use to be many ads in Sing-Tao about local Chinese cell phone authorized dealers. I remember I read some can even flash the phone to Chinese OS. I am sure they can unlock, but you just need to ask. Be careful don't let them rip you off :-)
One more thing. I couldn't use GPRS while I stayed in Taiwan for some reasons. I was only receiving GPRS signals briefly, but 99.99% of the time, I couldn't. Not sure if this has anything to do with the lost 900 frequency.....

While looking for SE T616 information, I found this website that provides unlocking service in L.A. area. They charge U$20 for unlocking on site, or by mail (postage extra). They also have other services.

By they way, for today only, AT & T has this phone for free if you order on line for people live in the U.S.
