今早收到chiang的訊息說Sony Ericsson剛推出了網上upgrade P900 firmware. 我這個SE死仕當然便即去一試. Download了SE的Update Service Program for PC之後便即跟著網頁的方法去Upgrade.

一開始把CDA Version打入之後, 己回覆我現在的已是最新版本R1A15, 不用UPGRADE. 但本著新事物必然一試的心態便選擇"Next -->". 就因為之前拿T68i, T610到SE Service Centre upgrade firmware的經驗, 我把Back-up的程序略過, 問題就於upgrade完成後出現啦~~

整個upgrade firmware過程約需20-30分鐘, 過程極度順利. 當中還駕車到機場一轉買SE產品, 真敗家!!!

回來時整個過程已完結. Restart後看見一切外加Program都健在, 總算開心, 但之後的專真令我痛心不而, 一切Phonebook, SMS, E-Mail...... 完全消失得無影無踪...

為什麼??? 我的SMS裡很有重要的呀!!! Phonebook更是..... 還有Picture, 你們為什麼離我而去......... OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!

收拾心情後, 就唯有待回家後把差不多10天前做的Back-up放回去, 試試可否還原~~~

再看看firmware分別, 基本一樣, 只有是CDA Version後的數字由R2A01轉為R2B01 (附圖)

Firmware upgrade 細節

The Sony Ericsson Update Service consists of:

• A wizard that guides you through the update process. This wizard consists of a web interface from which you initiate and finish the update process, and an update application that allows you to control the actual updating of your P900/P908.

• The Sony Ericsson Update Service client application that you will install on your PC. The client application enables you to run the Sony Ericsson Update Service.

The Update Process

The update process consists of the two distinctive phases:

Preparing the the device
In the preparations phase you prepare your device and PC for the update. You are requested to install the Sony Ericsson Update Service client application. The client application must be installed in order to successfully update your device. You are recommended to backup or synchronize your device to prevent any loss of data.

Updating the device
When you have completed the preparations, you download the latest software to your PC. When the download is complete, the update of the devicestarts automatically. When the update is completed you are recommended to restore or synchronize your device.

Time Duration

The time it takes to update your P900/908 depends on the abndwidth of your Internet connection and how much memory you are using in your device. The numbers below are rough estimates.

Example
Assumption: You have a fully charged battery, the PC Suite installed and at least a 0.5 Mbps Internet connection.

Best Case: (No back-up or synchronization needed, the client application already installed):
Go through the service: 10 minutes.
Download the device software file to your PC: 7 minutes.
Update the device software: 18 minutes.
Total 35 minutes

Worst case:
Go through the service: 10 minutes.
Download and install the Sony Ericsson Update Service client application: 10 minutes
Back up your device with half full phone memory: 20 minutes
Download the device software file to your PC: 7 minutes.
Update the device software: 18 minutes.
Restore your device: 20 minutes
Total 85 minutes

You are recommended to be connected to the Internet throughout the complete update process. However, if your Internet connection goes down, the actual update of your device will not be affected.

I have a query about communication tool using for upgrade?
Are u using IR or BT or cable? If u are using cable,..are u using norrmal cable or t28 service cable?

只需要把P900放在USB Sync. Cradle上就可以.

剛剛回家即試Restore. SMS, Phonebook等均已回覆最後一次Backup的時候~~~
